Divine action is always new and fresh, it never retraces its steps, but always finds new routes. When we are led by this action, we have no idea where we are going, for the paths we tread cannot be discovered from books or by any of our thoughts..

The good news to me about the above words, by the Christian mystic De Caussade, is reflected in the hope I feel in reading them. This hope is in the process of Life Itself, not merely what I feel or think about Life at any one time.
Presently, having been undergoing a major life-transition, and oft feeling totally lost, I have been encouraged to remember that at any moment a blessing to give validation that all is well can arise. I know mentally all is well, but, at times, I do not feel all is well. The reminder that Grace works in fresh ways and new directions, regardless of what I can discern at the present moment, is vitalizing to me.
Possibly, in remembering and living this Truth, I can share this positive Expectation with others. Likewise, by being honest that I do not always feel hopeful, I can give other persons encouragement to be honest about how they, too, do not always practice a hopefulness on par with their spiritual aspirations for themselves.

Can we keep our hearts open, not knowing where we are going? Can we choose to trust the Way Itself, even when we do not feel consolation in the process of openness to the Way? Can we see the Divine Presence as intimate with the process of this moment and possibilities we cannot see? If we can do these things, we can celebrate this Pilgrimage and remain optimistic about what is unfolding Now, in the only Present we are given. If we can do these things, we can live life with a comma, always being assured that Life is self-revelatory and we are part of that Life. We are each revelations of Life unfolding Life in all Its beauty, adventure, and mystery.
